Weekly Recap
The third week of the 2026 season brought another positive step forward as river conditions continued to improve. Lower water levels increased visibility and created favorable conditions for a wide range of species, giving our group of eight anglers plenty of opportunities throughout the week.
One of the standout developments was Surubim's strong presence. These beautifully marked catfish showed up consistently and quickly became one of the most talked-about catches among the group, adding variety and excitement to each day on the water.
Beyond the fishing, the week delivered a memorable wildlife encounter when anglers spotted a giant anteater crossing the river. Moments like this are a reminder that every trip to the Xingu offers much more than just great fishing.
Fishing Highlights
Fishing remained productive across multiple species, with peacock bass leading the way and providing steady action throughout the week. Bicuda, payara, matrinxã, and pacu borracha all contributed to a diverse catch list, keeping anglers engaged from start to finish.
The week's signature catch was Gary's, a massive Jaú. Combined with the excellent Surubim action, it was one of the defining moments of Week 3 and a highlight for everyone in camp.

Looking Ahead
Week 3 kept the season moving in the right direction. With the river dropping, visibility improving, and several species responding well, each day on the water brought new opportunities and strong moments for our guests.
We thank our eight American anglers for joining us at Xingu Lodge and for bringing great energy to the week. A giant Jaú, active Surubim, consistent peacock bass action, and a rare wildlife encounter made this another memorable chapter of the 2026 season.
