Week 2 of the 2026 season at Xingu Lodge brought a shift in the river. As the water dropped and visibility improved day by day, seven American anglers had one of the most complete weeks of the season, landing 217 fish.
The biggest surprise was the appearance of giant wolf fish — powerful predators that stunned the group with explosive strikes and spectacular jumps. Peacock bass in vivid colors, payara, bicuda, matrinxã, jaú, and red-tail catfish rounded out an extraordinary week of species variety.
Beyond the fishing, the group received traditional Kayapó body painting from the lodge's indigenous partners. It was a moment that connected everyone to the forest, the river, and the ancestral knowledge of a people who have protected this territory for generations.
Xingu River is one of the Amazon's most exclusive sport fishing destinations. At Xingu Lodge, world-class fishing, intact wilderness, and living indigenous culture come together in one unforgettable experience.
Weekly Recap
A noticeable change took place on the river during the second week of the season.
As the water began to drop, visibility improved day after day, opening new opportunities for our anglers and creating the right conditions for a very productive week. We welcomed seven guests from the United States, and from the first moments on the water, the group found steady action, strong fish, and the kind of variety that makes this destination so unique.
The days were marked by clearer water, topwater strikes, powerful species, and a special moment connected to Kayapó tradition. After the group received traditional Kayapó body painting, the fishing seemed to change. The action improved, the catches became even stronger, and the forest gave the week an energy that everyone could feel.

Beyond the Fishing
This trip also carried something that goes beyond numbers.
The traditional Kayapó painting became one of the most memorable moments of the experience. More than a cultural activity, it seemed to bring a new rhythm to the days on the water. The group felt connected to the forest, to the river, and to the knowledge of the people who have lived in this territory for generations.
Believe it or not, the magic of the forest seemed to work. After the painting, the catches improved, beautiful fish appeared on the surface, and the energy of the trip became even more special.
Looking Ahead
The second week of the season showed how quickly the river can transform the fishing experience. With the water dropping, visibility improving, and multiple species responding well, the season continues to build momentum.
We thank our seven guests for joining us at Xingu Lodge and for bringing such great energy to the trip. Clearer waters, big fish, Kayapó tradition, and unforgettable moments made this a true success on the river.
